Sarah Awards 2020 Judges
We’re so honored to have Paul Bae, Elena Fernández Collins, and Morgan Givens as the 2020 Sarah Awards finalist judges. This amazing trio are not only incredible creators but also enthusiastic champions of audio fiction. Scroll on to find out more about these awesome people.
Paul Bae
Paul Bae (he/him) is the award winning creator, writer and director of The Black Tapes (with Terry Miles) and The Big Loop (solo) podcasts—named Apple Podcasts’ “Best of 2015” and “Best of 2018” in the US respectively.
Recognized in Austin Film Festival and Moviemaker Magazine’s “25 Screenwriters To Watch In 2019,” with three television sales under his belt (including the much-lauded sale of The Black Tapes “in the room” to NBC) and his multi-series deal with Spotify, Paul has a successful track record of pitching audio fiction podcasts and TV properties to major studios.
Elena Fernández Collins
Elena Fernández Collins (they/she) is a podcast critic and forensic sociolinguist living in Portland, OR. They host the podcast Radio Drama Revival, write about podcasts for their own website, The Bello Collective, Discover Pods, and curate their own newsletter, Audio Dramatic. You can find them spending too much time on Twitter @ShoMarq, where they would probably like to to talk to you about marketing, equity and justice, and reading way too many sci-fi and fantasy books.
Morgan Givens
Morgan Givens (he/him/they) is a storyteller, audio producer, and journalist based in Washington, DC. He’s a former producer for 1A from WAMU and NPR, and is the creator of the hopepunk fiction podcast Flyest Fables. Morgan is a graduate of the Transom Story Workshop, and an AIR New Voices Scholar. When he’s not mixing podcasts, he’s dreaming up new ones.
